Joe Cox Named Next Richmond High School Softball Head Coach

The Richmond Community Schools Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Joe Cox as the new head softball coach at Richmond High School. Cox, who has served as an assistant coach with the program for the past four years, received board approval last month for the head coaching position.

Cox succeeds his daughter Alexis, who stepped down from the position following the conclusion of last season. "I am incredibly honored and excited to be named the new head softball coach at Richmond High School," Cox said. "I am eager to continue working with the talented student-athletes at RHS."

A Michigan native with over 17 years of softball coaching experience, Cox brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the program. He is also a distinguished U.S. Navy veteran, having served his country for 20 years before retirement. When not on the softball field, Cox enjoys outdoor activities, including golf and kayaking. He resides in Richmond with his wife, Kim, and together they have two children and five grandchildren, with another grandchild on the way.

Athletics Director Robert Lee expressed enthusiasm about the appointment, stating, "We are excited to retain a coach of Joe's caliber. His familiarity with the program, the girls and the community, we feel it made for a fantastic hire."
