Academics

At Head Start, we provide a strong foundation for lifelong learning through engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction. Our classrooms use research-based curriculum to support early literacy, math, science, and critical thinking skills. Children learn through play, exploration, and meaningful interactions with teachers and peers in a safe, nurturing environment.

We Focus on the whole child-supporting academic growth alongside social, emotional, and physical development. By partnering with families, we ensure each child is prepared for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Parents

Head Start values families as active partners in their child's education. We provide parents with important program information, resources, and meaningful opportunities to stay involved in their child's learning and development. Families are encouraged to participate in classroom activities, parent meetings, training, and special events.

Parent involvement also supports our required in-kind federal match, which includes donated time, services, and resources that help strengthen our program. Parents can contribute to in-kind hours by volunteering in classrooms, attending workshops and family activities, helping with projects at home, serving on parent committees, or sharing special skills and talents. Donated materials, supplies, and professional services may also count toward in-kind support.

All in-kind contributions are documented and help ensure we continue providing high-quality services to children and families. By participating, parents play a vital role in supporting program sustainability and student success.

To help us keep families informed and ensure child safety, we ask all parents and guardians to keep their phone numbers, email addresses and emergency contact information updated at all times. Accurate contact information allows us to quickly notify families in the event of a school closure, emergency, weather delay, or other important program updates.

Up-to-date contact information also helps us share general program information, classroom updates, and family resources. If your contact details change, please notify your child's Family Advocate as soon as possible. Your cooperation helps us keep your child safe and connected.

Head Start and Early Head Start are proud to partner with Hayes Arboretum to provide our students with meaningful outdoor learning experiences. Through this partnership, children will have opportunities to explore nature, build curiosity, and develop a love for the environment in a safe and supportive setting. These hands-on experiences support healthy growth, learning, and a deeper connection to the world around them.
