Online Safety Resources

Richmond Community Schools provides safe access to internet and web resources for our students, faculty, and staff. We comply with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).  To achieve this goal, Richmond Community Schools has partnered with LineWize to block a variety of categories. Through the use of artificial intelligence LineWize Filter is continuously examining site content and adding new sites by the minute to the ever growing block list. Additional sites may be added by the Department of Technology to further ensure students, faculty and staff are protected and safely utilizing our internet and web resources. 

As a parent, you have many online resources for sharing your concerns with others and getting advice. You don’t need to be a technical whiz to take advantage of these sites. Here are some you might want to add to your Favorites:

iKeepSafe promotes a safe digital environment for children, schools, and families. Their mission focuses on protecting student privacy and ensuring that technology used in educational settings meets high standards.
 
 

Childnet International - YouTube ChildNet

ChildNet promotes online safety for children and young people by providing guidance, resources, and support. They offer advice on key online safety issues, specifically designed materials for young children aged 4–11 years, and educational tools such as lesson plans and videos for both children and parents. Additionally, Childnet supports vulnerable families through educational initiatives and encourages community involvement to raise awareness about online safety, making it a valuable resource for navigating the digital world securely.

Stopbullying.gov is a website that focuses on stopping bullying and cyber-bullying, especially in schools. It gives easy-to-understand information for parents, teachers, and kids about what bullying is, how it affects people, and what can be done to prevent it. The site offers tips on how to create safe spaces, make rules against bullying, and encourage kindness among everyone. By sharing useful resources, StopBullying.gov helps communities work together to reduce bullying and create a friendly environment for everyone.
