Immunization Exclusion Day is Friday, October 16. Please make sure your child’s required immunizations are up to date before that date.

If your child needs immunizations, you can:

*Contact your child’s primary care provider.
*Visit the Wayne County Health Department at 100 S. 5th St. Hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.; the second Monday of each month, until 7:00 p.m.; and the first Saturday of each month, 8:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. Call 765-973-9245.
*Visit the RHS Meridian Clinic at Door 38 on Tuesdays or Thursdays, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Call ahead at 765-756-5100.
*Visit the immunization clinic at RCS Title I Family Night on Monday, October 12, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at the Richmond High School Career Center. Enter through Door 37 or Door 45.

The Red Devil Ambassadors Program is a six-session behind-the-scenes look at our district. It it open to Richmond/Wayne County community leaders and Richmond Community Schools parents who would like to learn more about our schools and what we do.

We ask that ambassadors commit to at least four of the six sessions. Our staff and students help prepare these experiences, and it is important that they have the chance to share their hard work with you.
All experiences are on Wednesday mornings from 9-11 a.m. (We also have breakfast!)
Ambassadors are encouraged to become active attendees of district events in order to get to know our community of students, staff, and families. They will receive passes/tickets to a few extracurricular events, plays, or athletic games throughout the year.
Ambassadors are guests in our buildings and classrooms. They are required to follow all safety protocols. They cannot take photos of students or staff during their visits, and they must complete a background check.

Community members who are interested in joining the program must complete an application by October 1, 2026.

Due to rain in tonight’s forecast, the Richmond High School Homecoming Parade has been moved to Thursday at 6 p.m.

The parade will begin at Cordell Municipal Pool, travel east on West Main Street, and end at Richmond High School’s Lyboult Field.

Richmond Community Schools is proud to announce that Richmond Adult Education has been named a 2025–2026 Program of Excellence by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The designation recognizes adult education programs that demonstrate exceptional performance in areas including student enrollment, academic gains, high school equivalency attainment, partnerships with employers and access to career training for high-demand occupations.

“Indiana continues to excel as a state due to the hard work, dedication and innovative practices being implemented at the program level in communities every day,” said Indiana Department of Workforce Development Commissioner Kate Shelby.

Adult education strengthens communities by helping individuals earn high school equivalency diplomas, improve foundational academic skills, pursue career certifications and access postsecondary education or training. The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that earning a high school credential can increase an individual’s average annual wages by approximately $8,400.

“This recognition reflects the commitment of our Richmond Adult Education staff and the determination of the students they serve,” said RCS Superintendent Dr. Curtis L. Wright. “By helping adults continue their education and prepare for new career opportunities, this program creates a lasting impact for individuals, families and the Richmond community.”

Richmond Adult Education will be recognized alongside other honorees during the Indiana Association of Adult and Continuing Education awards ceremony on September 30, 2026.

Residents interested in earning their high school equivalency diploma are encouraged to contact Richmond Adult Education at 765-973-3486. An upcoming three-day boot camp will be held October 1–3, with free testing and lunch available to the first 10 individuals who qualify.

For the third year in a row, Richmond Community Schools is celebrating outstanding growth in its 2026 Indiana Reading Evaluation and Determination (IREAD-3) results.

Districtwide reading proficiency increased from 70% in 2024 to 80.2% in 2025 to 86.4% in 2026, an improvement of 6.2 percentage points from last year. Of the district’s 338 third-grade students, 292 demonstrated reading proficiency this year.

Every RCS elementary school maintained or improved its proficiency rate, with Crestdale, Starr and Vaile elementary schools achieving especially significant gains.

RICHMOND, Indiana (August 25, 2026) - Richmond Community Schools, the Richmond Police Department, and the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced a joint effort to reduce chronic student absenteeism and support families before issues rise to the level of legal action.

Research consistently shows that students who are chronically absent—typically missing 10% or more of the school year—are more likely to struggle with reading and math achievement, experience lower graduation rates, and face greater risks of social, emotional, and long-term economic challenges. Regular attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic success because it provides students with consistent access to instruction, relationships, and the support they need to learn and thrive.
