The SAMR Model

The SAMR Model was developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura as a way to identify, measure, and evaluate the use of technology integration in the classroom.  Simply stated, it allows us to answer these questions:

  • Is technology being used in the classroom?
  • Is the chosen technology having a positive impact on student learning?
  • To what degree is the chosen technology building deeper levels of understanding?

As a team, we have chosen to use this model to guide our work with teachers because of the wealth of resources available that align the levels with iPad apps as well as the way that it coincides with Bloom's Taxonomy.
